How to Perform Granular Recovery

You can recover specific files and folders from your backed-up data using the Granular Recovery feature. This can be done from the Zmanda Sentinel, a SaaS platform to access Zmanda Endpoint Backup.

The Granular Recovery feature can help you save time and optimize network usage in your organization. You can follow the instructions given below to recover files and folders using Granular Recovery.

Note: Before you start the restoration, make sure you have at least one backup added to your device. Also, the source and destination device should be registered on Zmanda Endpoint Backup. You need to install Zmanda Endpoint Backup on both devices and log in to your account for a successful restore.

Step 1. Log in to the Zmanda Sentinel and click Restore under My Backup from the left navigation bar.

Step 2. Click Configure Restore.

Step 3. When the Perform Restore frame appears, select the device to restore. This will be the source device from where the data is backed up. Click Next to proceed.

Step 4. You can restore the data to the same device or some other device based on your requirement. Once the selection is made, click Next.

Step 5. Confirm the source and destination devices. You can also select the drive where you wish to restore the data using the drive mapping feature.

Step 6. Select the Granular Recovery option to restore selective files and folders.

Step 7. Next, choose the date and time of the backup that you want to restore.

Once the date and time are added, you will see all the backups taken before or on that date (and time).

Step 8. Click on the backup you wish to restore.

Step 9. By default, the entire backup will be selected. You can uncheck the checkboxes next to the files and folders you don’t want to restore.

Please ensure all the files and folders that are required to restore are selected.

It is possible to select only one file or folder from the backup. All you need to do is tick the checkbox next to the respective file.

Step 10. Click the Restore button to start the restoration of selected files and folders.

Recovery of selective files and folders is being taken care of with Granular Recovery.
